Adult Programs at Humbercrest
Alcoholics Anonymous—Park Lawn Group
Meet Fridays at 8:30 p.m.
Why meet to discuss a book? Often discussion with other people who have read the same book leads to new insights. It can cause one to look at the world, themselves or history in a different way. We read a variety of books, both fiction and non-fiction. The book discussion group meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 7:30 in the Friendship Room. New members are always welcome. Please feel free to join us at any of our meetings.
Some of the books we have read include:
- The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid
- Crow Lake by Mary Lawson
- Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo (the story of life in a Mumbai slum)
- Under an Afghan Sky by Melissa Fung
- Little Bee by Chris Cleave
- Bride of New France by Suzanne Desrochers
Chair yoga is a series of yoga movements done sitting on a chair and also some standing
postures with the help of a chair. As a result, it improves seniors health.
Yoga is an excellent way for older adults to:
* loosen and stretch painful muscles ,
* reduce stress
* improve circulation
* develop greater flexibility
* helps lower blood pressure
* protects joints and improves range of motion, (great for arthritis)
* builds strength and balance
It is interesting and fun!

Planet Matters is currently on hiatus.
Meet every Monday 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. to spend the morning working their magic with beautiful fabrics. All are welcome to bring their skills or desire to learn. Click here to view quilts for sale. Contact Jenny Davies at 416-769-5986 if you wish more information.
